Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:2-(Halogen-substitued phenoxy)-5-trifluoromethylpyridines of formula I (X1 and X2 are H, halogen; Y is halogen; R is H, cation; n is 1W4).
EXAMPLE: 2-Chloro-4-(5-trifluoromethylpyridin-2-yloxy)phenol.
USE: Intermediate of medicine, agricultural chemical and dye.
PREPARATION: In an example, the reaction of a compound of formula II with another compound of formula III (R' is H, lower alkyl) is conducted in the presence of an alkali substance and solvent to give a compound of formula IV. When R1 is alkyl, the alkyl is eliminated by ether decomposition or when R1 is H, an alkali substance is made to act on the compound of formula IV to convert to the salt, which is halogenated to the compound of formula I.
