Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable vibration of high frequency but small amplitude with high efficiency as well, by moving the first and the second portions of a piston into or out of contact with each other depending on the amplitude of the vibration to be caused.
CONSTITUTION: The piston 6 of a hydraulic vibration actuator having piston rods 12, 14 extending through end walls 2, 3 is composed of a first and a second portions 6a, 6b. Both the portions are coupled to each other so that the distance between them can be adjusted by a means 15 along the axis of a cylinder 1. The distance adjusting means 15 comprises a male screw thread 6b' provided over the second portion 6b concentrically with the cylinder 1 and a female screw thread 6a' provided under the first portion 6a concentrically with the cylinder. The distance between the portions 6a, 6b is adjusted by rotating them relatively to each other. After that, a nut 18 is tightened on the male screw part 17 of a rod 16 to lock up the portions 6a, 6b to each other.
