Abstract

PURPOSE: To surely and readily produce the optical fibers of superior characteristics by putting high-tension wires into V-form tapes earlier than optical fibers, twisting these to sink the high-tension wires into the V-form tapes then inserting the optical fibers.
CONSTITUTION: Tapes 12 are bent by a bender 4 to tapes 2 of V-form in section, which are then led into an aggregating die 5 and are mutually twisted. In this aggregating die 5, high-tension wires 3 are also twisted in the state that they are held in the V-form tapes 2. The cores 7 out from the aggregating die 5 assume the shape that the high-tension wires 3 sink in the bottom of the V-form tapes 2 and these six pieces are firmly twisted together. Thence, the cores 7 are led into a die 6, and optical fibers 1 are put in the V-form tapes 2 by the die 6. Here, the spacing l between the die 5 and die 6 is set apart by P×N/M (P is the twist pitch of the cable, M is the twisted number of the V-form tapes and N is positive integer). By beforehand sinking the high-tension wires 3 into the V-form tapes in this way, the optical fibers of superior characteristics may be surely and readily produced.
