Abstract

PURPOSE: To pick up accurate signals and to prevent the damages to the needle and disc, by detecting the strain of the needle arm as the change in amount of light and controlling each position at carrying so that the needle arm can be constantly placed to the trace groove of the disc.
CONSTITUTION: The amount of light detection section in which the amount of received light is changed due to the change in the needle arm 21 is provided, and the detection section consists of the light shield plate 35 placed on the needle arm 21, light source 36 placed on one side of the shield plate 35, and photo detection elements 37 and 38 placed on another side. The output of the photo detection elements 37 and 38 is inputted to the comparison circuit 39 to pick up the output voltage at the both elements, and the DC output of the comparison circuit 39 is inputtted to the motor control circuit 42 via the low pass filter 40 and the gate circuit 41. The control circuit 42 controls the number of revolutions of the motor 48 for arm feeding to drive the arm unit. Thus, the relative position of the needle to the disc can automatically be controlled to prevent the damage to the needle and disc.
