Abstract

PURPOSE: To simplify a testing apparatus, and to reduce its power consumption, by pressing a beltlike simulation road surface against a tire by using a water bearing.
CONSTITUTION: A tire 16 is rotated contacting with an endless belt 1 in rustless steel etc., which forms a simulation road surface, the travelling of the tire 16 being in accordance with the movement of the belt 1. Thus, a travelling test for the tire 16 is carried out in a house under predetermined surrounding conditions. The belt 1 is pushed to the tire 16 with predetermined pressure by a water bearing consisting of water by a water tank 24, a pump 25, a water jet port 18, etc. Owing to the bearing using such water with a non-compressing property, a travelling apparatus can be simplified as compared with the case when using a pneumatic bearing. Moreover, the travelling apparatus using the water bearing permits the reduction of the power consumption of electric power, etc.
