Abstract
PURPOSE:To prolong the life of a recording device by a method wherein an electrothermal converter coated with a thin film whose resistivity is 5X10<5>OMEGA.cm or more is provided as a source of generation of a force discharging small drips of a recording liquid, in a chamber communicating with a discharge orifice. CONSTITUTION:On to a substrate 3 wherein a long groove 4 including a chamber 4' containing the ink to be discharged and a discharge orifice 5 is formed is stuck another substrate 1 mounted with a heating body 2 on the surface thereof. The heating body 2 is constituted by laminating a heat accumulating layer 7, a heater-resistor 11, electrodes 8 and a protecting layer 9, in this order, on the other substrate 6 of alumina and the like. Out of them, as the protecting layer 9, a thin film with resistivity of 5X10<5>OMEGA.cm or more and with the thickness of about 0.1-5mum or, desirably, 2-3mum is formed. In concrete terms, metal oxide such as TiO2, V2O5 and Al2O3, high-resistance nitride such as AlN, semiconductor such as amorphous silicone, etc. are formed to be a film by the methods of evaporation, vapor-phase reaction and the like. There are other methods such as the method wherein silicone resin etc. is formed to be a film through evaporation or that wherein thiourea, ethylene etc. are formed to be a film through plasma polymerization, as well.
