Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent a tanker from increasing in temperature under full loading of oil and reduce the weight of the hull by using a tank as ballast, which encloses cargo oil tanks and has an upper end opened head regulating pipe on the upper side.
CONSTITUTION: A pair of cargo oil tanks 11, 11 on the port and starboard sides are aligned in the longitudinal direction of the tanker. A ballast tank 12 commonly encloses all faces, left and right, front and rear, and up and down, of the tanks and has a water head regulating pipe 14 on the upside with its upper end opened and lower end communicated with the ballst tanks 12. The ballast water cools the cargo oil and prevents the oil from rising in temperature. If high, pressures of gas may be modulated by the head regulating pipe 4, which may simplify the internal construction of the tanker.
