Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the generation of malodors by microbial action by a method wherein a liquid containing organic substance is adsorbed by an adsorbing medium while keeping an oxidation atmosphere by means of an oxidant.
CONSTITUTION: Hydrogen peroxide water is, for example, added to water containing organic substances as an oxidant, and the water is let pass through a filling layer of an adsorbing medium such as activated carbon, diatomite, silica gel, etc. Since hydrogen peroxide is decomposed by the catalytic action of porous substance such as the activated carbon, etc., an oxidation atmosphere is formed, and the organic substance is adsorbed and removed by means of the adsorbing medium in the oxidation atmosphere. Since the organic matter adsorbed is decomposed by a microbe and adsorption is advanced under the oxidation atmosphere even oxygen dissolving in water is consumed at that time, malodors are not generated by reducing substance. Not less than one selected from hydrogen peroxide, oxygen, ozone and air are used as the oxidant.
