Abstract
PURPOSE:To raise the quality of coating, e.g., impact resistance, chipping resistance, rust proofness, etc., by the procedure in which the surface of an iron material is treated by a gas-soft nitriding to form a nitride layer of a specific thickness and then coated with a water-dispersed type paint. CONSTITUTION:The surface of an iron material is subjected to a gas-soft nitriding treatment to form a nitride layer of a thickness of approx. 5 microns or more, and then coated with a water-dispersed type paint consisting of 30% or less pigment, 20-60% a resin, e.g., melamine-acrylic resin, etc., 5-20% an organic solvent, 20-60% water, and 5% or less an additive. This method, in which a nitride layer is used as an undercoat in the place of a formed film treatment, obviates the necessity for washing, drying, formed film treatment processes, etc., and provides uniform corrosion-resistant and rust-proof undercoat even at the edge portion, etc.
