Abstract
PURPOSE: To prevent the erosion of nozzle end part, form stable molten metal jet flow and produce the broad metal tape by blowing the raw material metal which has been melted on a porous heat-resistanct plate provided right above the nozzle to a rotary cooling body from the nozzle in an inert atmosphere thereby rapidly solidifying the same.
CONSTITUTION: Raw material metal (e.g.; Fe62Ni16Mo2Si8B12) is loaded onto a porous heat-resistant plate 16 composed of quartz glass or the like in a molten metal feed pipe 11. Inert gas such as Ar gas is flowed from a gas feed pipe 19 into the furnace through gas hole 18 and is flowed in a heating furnace 14. On the other hand, while the Ar gas is being flowed into the pipe 11, the furnace 14 is headed to the specified temperature to melt the raw material metal. After it has melted perfectly, it is lowered in the pipe 11. Thence, Ar gas is applied to molten metal in the pipe 11 under high pressure to let the molten metal jet out onto the rotary cooling body 15 which is rotating at a high speed, from a nozzle 13 through the multiple pores of the heat resistant plate 16. As a result of this, the homogeneous broad amorphous metal tape of flat surfaces is obtained.
