Abstract

PURPOSE: To make bending properties and surface color uniform, by annealing a directional silicon steel plate under a neutral gas atmosphere of prescribed O2 content.
CONSTITUTION: A directional steel plate is annealed and flattened under an atmosphere of neutral gas such as N2 or Ar with an O2 content of 5% or less. At that time, the flow rate of the gas is increased and the rotational frequency of a fan for the cooling zone of an annealing furnace is adjusted to change the flow of the gas in the furnace and limit the O2 content at 5% or less at the inlet part of the annealing furnace. According to this method of annealing and flattening, the bending properties and surface color of the steel plate are made better than in conventional methods. This results in improving the quality of a product and productivity and reducing the cost.
