Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a Cu alloy having a low softening temperature, high strength and excellent in conductivity and workability by alloying Cu with specific amount of Fe, B and Zn.
CONSTITUTION: Cu is covered with charcoal, placed in a graphite crucible, and melted in a high frequency furnace. To Cu, mother alloy of Cu-50%Fe is added, followed by addition of Zn and a mother alloy of Cu-2%B, and melted to provide a Cu-Fe-Zn-B alloy contg. Fe: 1.0W3.5wt%, B: 0.001W0.1wt% and Zn: 0.3W 5.0wt%. Molten metal of this alloy is cast into a mold, and the ingot is worked by rolling, etc. to give a shape suitable for application. Adding Fe and Zn enhances strength, and B is effective to control a softening temperature which is risen by addition of Fe. The material has high strength, conductivity of heat and electricity and workablity, and as such is suitable as conducting material of electric and electronic parts as well as heat exchanger material.
