Abstract
PURPOSE:To produce a title steel plate having uniform and smooth plating appearance by a method wherein a steel plate is wiped to control plated quantity, and deposited zinc or zinc-aluminum alloy is rapidly cooled and solidified in non-oxidizing or reducing atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:A steel strip 1 is passed through a non-oxidizing or reducing atmosphere box 2 and is run nearly parallel to the molten metal surface, using two guide rollers 8. There, the strip 1 is deposited with molten-metal elevated-surface coming through guide trough 9 via pump 3. Surplus molten metal is removed by blowing non-oxidizing gas such as N2 gas coming from wiping nozzle 4. Then, cooling mechanism 5a is used to blow non-oxiding gas such as N2 gas at room or cooled temperature onto the non-plated surface of the steel strip 1, so that molten zinc or zinc-aluminum alloy on the plated surface is rapidly cooled at a rate of 50 deg.C/min or more. As a result, molten metal is solidified while maintaining good deposition condition of wiping operation.
