Abstract

PURPOSE: To make smooth the curve of the bent-back portion of a panel conveyor made of numerous coupled conveying steel panels, by providing the cargo carrying surface of each panel with the same curvature as the bent-back portion.
CONSTITUTION: Adjacent conveying steel panels 10, whose cross section in a conveying direction is shaped like an arc, are engaged with each other at their projections 12 and swingably pivoted by pins 16 inserted through holes 14. A sprocket 20 is provided with almost semicircular recesses 24 at intervals l1' corresponding to the distance l' between the projections 12 on both the ends of each conveying panel 10. The recesses 24 are engaged with the projections 12 of the panels 10 so that the sprocket drives a conveyor or is driven thereby. The curvature of each conveying panel 10 corresponds to that of the pitch circle of the sprocket 20. The panels of the bent-back portion of the conveyor are engaged with the sprocket 20 as the same circle so that the conveying panels are smoothly curved in the bent-back portion.
