Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce fluctuation of torque and revolution speed and obtain an effect of a dual exhaust by assigning an equal interval of 360 deg. for a phase interval of detonations between cylinders in right and left banks. CONSTITUTION:In a right side bank 3, a pair is made of two cylinders 11, 13 whose phase of detonation intervals is mutually shifted by 360 deg. in an angle of revolutions of a crank shaft 9, while in a left side bank a pair is made of two cylinders 12, 14 with their detonation intervals mutually shifted by 360 deg.. Then their phase of detonation intervals is shifted by 180 deg. so that the pair of cylinders 11, 13 is in a rising process while the other pair 12, 14 is in a lowering process. Hence, detonation intervals of cylinders 11-14 are made as an equal interval of 360 deg., and fluctuations of torque and speed of revolutions are reduced. Further, an exhaust effect is obtainable by joining each of exhaust pipes 51-54 for the pair of cylinders, 11, 13 and the pair of cylinders, 12, 14 so as the exhaust gas flows into each unit of main exhaust pipes 55, 56.
