Abstract
NEW MATERIAL:1D-6-O-(2', 6'-Diamino-2', 6'-dideoxy-α, D-glucopyranosyl)-2, 5- diamino-2,4,5-trideoxy-muco-inositol.
USE: An antibacterial active against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. A raw material for the synthesis of amino-cyclitol derivatives.
PROCESS: A compound of formula II (R1 is amino-protecting group; R2 is mesyl or tosyl group) is dissolved in a polar solvent, e.g. dimethylformamide, and an alkali metal salt of an organic acid, e.g. sodium benzoate, is reacted with the compound under heating. A water-miscible solvent and an aqueous alkali are added and reacted with the resulting product and purified by the ion-exchange column chromatography.
