Abstract
PURPOSE:To plate single side of hoop securely and at a low cost, by spraying fuel gas having been decomposed to carbon and decomposed gas to the single side which is not to be plated of a hoop in a nonoxidizing atmosphere so as to coat the hoop. CONSTITUTION:A heating coil 9 which is heated by a burner 10 is installed in a pyrolysis furnace 8. Fuel gas supplied through the inlet 11 of the coil 9 is heated to high temp. and thermally decomposed into carbon and decomposed gas while passing through the coil 9. The carbon and the decomposed gas are blown out through a nozzle 3 installed in a snout 2 toward the side not to be plated of a hoop 1 so as to coat the hoop with carbon. Excess carbon and decomposed gas are discharged through an exhausting cylinder 12. The hoop 1 coated on its single side with carbon is led into a plating bath 5 in order to plate the other side. This method permits to manufacture single side-plated hoop having excellent plating adhesiveness because no oxygen enters in the atmosphere in the snout.
