Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain the carbon electrode for electrolysis, whose life is long and its handling is easy by a method wherein a conductive carbon material and a bond consisting of thermoplastic synthetic resin with high chemical stability or silicon resin are kneaded below a fixed temperature and molded.
CONSTITUTION: A conductive carbon material, such as carbon black, structure as a carbon skeleton thereof develops, a carbon fiber, etc. and the bond being composed of thermoplastic synthetic resin (for example, PE) with high chemical stability or silicon resin are kneaded and molded. That is, the said materials are charged into a kneading machine, such as a kneader mixer, etc., kneaded for 10W30 minutes below 300°C, normally, at 120W300°C, and mold-worked in a fixed electrode shape by means of a method, such as projection molding, extrusion molding, roll working, etc. Since the materials are not backed according to this method, a porous electrode is not formed as seen in conventional devices, the carbon electrode with dense structure is obtained, and its durability is improved.
