Abstract

PURPOSE: To control the valve lift, by means of setting up a mechanism which conducts the valve driving force at the motion valve system via oil pressure.
CONSTITUTION: The timing and the lift quantity by which the first piston 9 actuates the air absorbing/exhausting valve against the movement of a cam 4, is determined by the time at which a connecting port 19 formed in the third piston 6 is closed. The initial distance up to the connecting port 19 and a body 5 which closes the port, is determined by oil pressure supplied to the second and the third oil pressure chambers 11, 12 via a supplying path 16 of the oil pressure, and the relative position of the third piston 6 is so much lowered as the supplied oil pressure is raised. If the supplied pressure may be lowered inversely, the closing time of the connecting port 19 is delayed by the extent, and the valve lifting quantity becomes reduced, and in some case it is also possible that the absorbing/exhausting valve not to be actuated absolutely.
