Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a cooling system capable of obstructing heat damage to outside due to a high temp. of the catalyser part with no reductions of the catalytic ability and the engine characteristic, by means of setting up a heat insulating layer at the outside of the catalyser holding part of the waste gas path, and of setting up a cooling zone at the outside of heat insulating layer thereof.
CONSTITUTION: When a waste gas is passed through a catalyser 7, becauses that the unburned gas and the unburned oil in the waste gas are burned, the holding part of the catalyser 7 becomes to a very high temp.. The outside of the catalyser holding part is cooled by means of forming a cooling water path 12 at the outer circumference of the catalyser holding part of a waste gas path 5. On the other hand, because that a heat insulating layer 11 is formed between a cooling water path 12 and the waste gas path 5, cooling effect of the cooling water path 12 does not been exerted on the waste gas path 5 and the catalyser 7, and thereby the waste gas path 5 and the catalyser 7 are kept at a high temp. and there is no possibility of reduction of the engine characteristic and the catalyser mechanism.
