Abstract
PURPOSE: To flux for welding suited for abrasion-resistant welded overlay of mild steel in particular which is considerably reduced of the amount of W with respect to conventional W-base electrodes, makes combined use of a slight amount of Mo, Cr, Mn and B and is composed of iron and slag agent for the remainder.
CONSTITUTION: The above-mentioned flux which is compounded with alloy components at the ratios of C; 3W5% (as graphite),; 6W10% (as WC and W2C), Mo; 6W10% (as Fe-Mo), Cr; 6W12% (as Fe-Cr), Mn; 2W4% (as Fe-Mn) and B; 1.8W3% (as Fe-B) respectively based on weight and is compose of iron and slag agent for the remainder. When this flux for arc welding is used, abrasion resistance is high and cracking is difficult to occur at the boundary of the base metals and deposited metal because the alloys of high hardness intersperse in the deposited metal despite the small W contents as compared to conventional products.
