Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a rear-vision mirror of which reflecting function automatically decreases when an intensive light from headlight of a succeeding car enters when running at night, by controlling the liquid crystal display placed before the mirror with a light detection signal by a photo sensor placed by the side.
CONSTITUTION: A mirror body 10, a liquid crystal plate 9 and a polarizing plate 8 are successively laminated, and are supported on a frame body 2 through a packing 13, and a photo sensor 4 is placed in the hole 3 in the front face of the frame body 2 to form a rear-vision mirror (in which 7 is a fitting having a fixing part 7a at one end affixed to the frame body 2). When an intensive light enters the front face of this rear-vision mirror, it is detected by the sensor 4, of which signal is applied to operate the liquid crystal plate 9 being driven by alternating currents from an oscillator, through a DC amplifier 15, a delaying circuit 16, a detecting circuit 17, a driver 19, etc., to lower the transmittance of the light, so that the reflection by the mirror body 10 may be attenuated.
