Abstract

PURPOSE:To perform recording without reducing its speed and to lengthen the lifetime of a thermal head in a polychrome thermosensitive recorder, by changing the preheated temperature of thermosensitive recording paper or a platen depending on a hue to be recorded. CONSTITUTION:When a polychrome thermosensitive recording paper 16 is moved in an accessory scanning direction by paper feed rollers 18, thermosensitive recording is effected on the paper by the main scanning of a recording head 14. At that time, the recording paper 16 is preheated by a heater 15 and the temperature of the paper is detected by a temperature sensor 17 and informed to a recording paper temperature controller 22. When hue instruction data are supplied from a hue changeover instruction controller 21 to the recording paper temperature controller 22, controller 22 regulates a heater driver 24 according to the hue instruction data to energize or deenergize the heater depending on a hue to be recorded. The recording paper 16 is thus preheated below a coloring temperature.
