Abstract

PURPOSE: A novel fungus mold of "Maitake" (Grifora frondosa var tokachiana), which is edible and useful in medical application, and a method for culturing the same.
CONSTITUTION: A new fungus mold, Grifora frondosa var tokachiana, (FERM- 4979), which has been found in Tokachi area of Hokkaido, is cultured in a liquid or agar culture medium or an artificial medium prepared from saw dusts, wheat bran and soybean cake.
