Abstract

PURPOSE: Methyl methacrylate syrup composition, improved in storage stability, which is prepared by the addition of 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol to a syrup containing methyl methacrylate and its polymer.
CONSTITUTION: 0.001W1.0wt% 2,6-di-tert-butyl-4-methylphenol is added to a methyl methacrylate syrup, composed of a polymerizable vinyl monomer mixture containing a methyl methacrylate monomer or methyl methacrylate, in which its polymer is dissolved. Said syrup is obtained by partially polymerizing methyl methacrylate alone or a mixture of 50% or more methyl methacrylate and other copolymerizable monomer, by use of a small amount of polymerization initiator, if necessary in the presence of a polymerization modifier such as mercaptans at 50W 150°C, or by dissolving a methyl methacrylate polymer in the monomer so as to obtain said composition.
