Abstract

PURPOSE: Titled polymer, excellent in weather resistance, impact resistance and tensile strength, which is prepared by the graft-polymerization of methyl methacrylate and styrene, with a specified monomer, in the resence of a specified skeletonal rubber polymer.
CONSTITUTION: A skeletonal rubber polymer (A) of 0.08W0.3μ average primary particle size is obtained, by the emulsion polymerization of (a) 50W95wt% 2W12C acrylate contg. alkyl group, (b) 50W5wt% conjugated diolefin and (c) 0W5wt% polyfunctional crosslinking agent such as diallyl phthalate. Then 50W80 pts.wt. of (A), which are emulsified in an aqueous medium, are graft-polymerized with 20W 50pts.wt. of a monomer mixture (B), which are composed of (d) 40W90% methyl methacrylate, (e) 5W50% styrene and (f) at least one monomer, selected from ethyl (meth)acrylate and butyl (meth)acrylate, and give a polymer having 20W95°C glass transition temperature.
