Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect digitally at a high accuracy the absolute position of an object having a comparatively large amount of movement, by detecting the position of the moving object through a rotation-angle detecting means, digitally treating an output signal from the rotation-angle detecting means, and outputting an output address signal representative of an absolute position of the object.
CONSTITUTION: A signal 100 representative of an angle of rotation from a rotation- angle detecting means 10 is converted into a digital signal 200 by a converter 12. The lower address signal 200 is memorized in a memory 14, and also supplied to an upper signal generator 16 in which the signal 200 is compared with a lower address signal 200p from the memory 14. An adding pulse 300 is then output from the signal generator 16, which pulse 300 is used to determine the direction of movement of the object in a zero position of rotation. The pulse 300 is subjected to addition and subtraction in a reversible counter 18, and the result is input as an upper address signal 400 into a synthesizer 20. The synthesizer 20 is adapted to carry out the synthesis of the signal 200, 400 and output an address signal 500. The above process is carried out with reference to predetermined pulse signals T1WT3 output from a pulse signal generator 22. Thus, a comparatively large amount of movement of an object can be digitally detected at a high accuracy.
