Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the probe of compact size with a better access and high reliability in the combination of a fixed-angle type wave receiving member and a variable-angle type wave transmitting member.
CONSTITUTION: A fixed-angle type probe 3 consisting the wave transmitting and receiving members 1 and 2 in the compound probe 12 performs vertical ultrasonic flaw detection of a material 9 to be tested. A variable-angle type probe 6 consisting the wave transmitting and receiving members 4 and 5 turned with an angle controlling lever 13 performs ultrasonix flaw detection of the tested material 9 in various specified directions. The control of a set of probes 3 and 6 enables ultrasonic flaw detection in multi-directions. This miniaturizes the construction of the compound ultrasonic probe, thereby bettering the contact with the tested material and ultimately assuring a highly reliable ultrasonic flaw detection.
