Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain the photo matrix switch of non-blocking type by disposing the optical path changing elements using reflection on the points of intersections among four fiber arrays. CONSTITUTION:An optical path changing element 10 has the two reflecting faces in which the mutually opposing two faces AB and ED as well as BC and EF become mutually parallel and is formed at smaller than 45 deg. in the angle that it assumes to the optical axis. If the element 10 is disposed at the point of intersections of the lines connecting optical fibers 1-1', 2-2', 3-3', 7-7', 8-8', 9-9', the respectively corresponding optical fibers are connected. If, here, the fibers 2 and 9' are going to be connected, the optical path changing element 102.9 is removed from the point of their intersection, and this causes light to enter from the fiber 2 and be connected to the fiber 9'. At this time, the light incident from the fiber 9 is similarly connected to the fiber 2'. In this way, the photo matrix switch of non-blocking type may be readily obtained simply by removing the element 10 on the corresponding points of intersection.
