Abstract

The invention relates to a conveyor belt of the type having embedded therein longitudinally extending reinforcements or traction bearers made of an aromatic polyamide, and has for its object to reduce the risk of damaging the bearers by accidental incision when, during splicing, the elastomeric material of the belt is cut to expose the bearers. In one embodiment, each traction bearer comprises a multi-strand aromatic polyamide cable (11) around which are wound incision-resistant metal cables (16). The windings of the metal cables (16) are spaced apart so that the elastomeric material of the belt in which the cables (11) and (16) are embedded is able to penetrate the spaces between the windings and bond directly to the aromatic polyamide cable (11). <IMAGE>
