Abstract
PURPOSE: To allow unfired pellets or briquettes to rapidly exhibit anticompression strength and shorten the curing period by curing them under ordinary pressure in a saturation humidity atmosphere of a specified temp. range.
CONSTITUTION: A powdered carbon type reducing agent is added to fine irom ore and/or iron ore dust, and this starting material is kneaded with about 8wt% of a binder such as Portland cement and an adequate amount of water. The kneaded material is then pelletized or briquetted, and the pellets or briquettes are cured under ordinary pressure at 70W100°C in a container kept at the saturation humidity. By this method unfired pellets or briquettes having anticompression strength required when charged into a blast furnace are obtd. in such short days of curing as 24hr or less.
