Abstract
PURPOSE:To form black film on the surface of Al at a low cost, by treating the surface of Al with an aqueous soln. contg. sulfuric acid and at least one member selected from the group comprising Co salt, Ni salt etc. to form a chemical conversion coating, then by treating the coating with an aqueous soln. of molybdate etc. CONSTITUTION:Al is treated with an aqueous soln. for forming coating contg. suitable quantities of sulfuric acid and at least one member selected from the group consisting of Co salt, Ni salt, Mn salt, and Zn salt to form a chemical conversion coating on its surface then the Al is treated with an aqueous coloring soln. contg. suitable quantitites of Ni salt and molybdate such as ammonium molybdate to form a black coating. These chemical treatment forms uniform black coaing over whole Al product of complicated shape compared with that formed by conventional electrochemical treatment at a low energy cost.
