Abstract

PURPOSE: To detect correctly the time for exchanging corrosive-gas-capturing material packed in a trap described in the title, by measuring the dielectric constant of the corrosive-gas-collecting material packed in a packing layer for capturing the corrosive gas, and by converting the measured dielectric constant into the adsorbed quantity of the corrosive gas.
CONSTITUTION: Chemical pellets are packed on a perforated plate 3 in a trap 2. A gas to be treated 1 is introduced through the lower part of the trap 2 and is passed through the packed layer 4, where the corrosive components are adsorbed and removed from the gas. The gas is then discharged as a treated gas 5 through the upper part. Pellets for measuring dielectric constant are arranged at the lower part 6.1, the upper part 6.2, and the side part 6.3 of the packed layer 4. Both ends of these pellets are held between electrodes, and the lead wires are pulled out from the trap 2, the side wall through which the lead wires are pulled out being sealed with a hermetic seal 7. The lead wires 8 for measurement are connected to a dielectric- constant-measuring instrument 9. The dielectric constants of the pellets 6.1W6.3 for measurement are measured, and the quantities of the corrosive gas adsorbed with the packed layer 4 are detected. Hereby the time for exchanging the pellets is decided.
