Abstract

PURPOSE: To form thin banded coating having distinct boundaries by electrostatic coating with synthetic resin powder etc. on a material to be coated by means of a simple and small apparatus, by electrically charging the powder while feeding the powder together with a fluid into a closed space having a rim approached to the material to be coated.
CONSTITUTION: Insulated particles 4 suspended in an ordinally gas is fed 3 into a closed space 2, where its speed is reduced, and a gas in a quantity larger than that of the fed gas is discharged 8. Corona discharge is generated from a corona-discharging electrode 5 to the material 15 to be coated which is grounded with interposition of the particles 4, whereby an electrostatic field is generated at the slit of the material 15 to be coated. By the action of the electrostatic field, a layer 16 of powder deposited electrostatically is formed slowly on the surface of the material 15 to be coated, which is grounded through the slit window 17. The residual powder is discharged 8 to the outside of the system, and is recovered and reutilized.
