Abstract

PURPOSE: To construct an underground dam for reserving underground water with the minimum scale of construction by a method wherein a continuous underground wall of concrete is built in the gravel and an impermeability layer is formed in a weathered base rock layer positioned under the gravel in a dried-up river bed in the desert in North Africa and others similar regions.
CONSTITUTION: A continuous underground wall 4 of concrete is built in the gravel A and then, piercing through the underground wall 4, boring is made from a weathered base rock layer B to the foundation ground C. Next, chemical grouting is made into a bored hole 5, thereby an impermeability layer 6 being formed in the weathered base rock layer B under the underground wall. By the continuous underground wall 4 and the impermeability layer formed under the former the underground water is reserved. In addition, the building of the underground wall 4 makes it possible to minimize the earth-stripping quantity and save the time and labour for filling up, thereby the curtailment of the scale of construction and the reduction of the term of construction to a large extent being achieved.
