Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce branching couplers or eliminate its need as to single-line two- way communication using optical fiber, by connecting a light-emitting and photo- detecting element of lamination of light emitting element and photo detecting element direct to the optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:At the one end of transmission fiber 29, light-emitting and photo- detecting element 28 is arranged. At the other end, light-emitting element 31 and photo-detecting element 32 are provided via branching coupler 30 and luminescence center wavelength lambda1 of element 28 is made greater than luminescence center wavelength lambda2 of light emitting element 31.
