CONSTITUTION:Transmission holes 2 to 4 are provided in positions corresponding to diameters of various kinds of record disc at every prescribed angle position on the upper face of turntable 1. Light relection plates which form optical code patterns 5 to 7 are provided on outside circumference parts of turntable 1 corresponding to transmission holes 2 to 4. Ultrasonic speaker 11 is arranged above turntable 1, and ultrasonic waves which passed through transmission holes 2 to 4 are detected by horn 10 and ultrasonic microphone 9 which are arranged under the turntable. Meanwhile, two photoelectric converters 12 for reading optical code patterns 5 to 7 are equipped to subject two-bit digital signals obtained from converters 12 and signals indicating the presence or the absence of a record disc from microphone 9 to operation processing by logical operation circuit 21, thereby obtaining signals indicating the size of the record disc.
