Abstract

PURPOSE: To cause a magnetic head to endure a semipermanent use by using a head slider or a head consisting of an oil-including sintered magnetic substance for an external storage device for computer.
CONSTITUTION: In the magnetic head used in a disc storage device, monolithic slider 1 fixed to gimbals spring 2 is constituted by oil-including sintered ferrite. Hollow holes exist always in materials in respect to sintered ferrite which is a ferromagnetic substance. The rate of these hollow holes is set to a value within a range where the magnetic characteristic is not interferred, and further, a pressure and a temperature are controlled properly in the impregnation process, and a lubricant suitable for the use purpose is selected. As a result, difficult and bad-yield application of oil, which is a medium, can be avoided in the floating magnetic head system, and head defacement dependent upon slide to the tape can be prevented in the contact magnetic head system.
