Abstract

PURPOSE: A method of producing a plastic pipe comprising the steps of extruding a plastic pipe, cooling the pipe from inside and outside by cooling water, and passing the pipe through a heater for almost completely eliminating the stresses.
CONSTITUTION: A plastic pipe is extruded and then efficiently cooled by an inside- and-outside cooling system. For eliminating the residual stresses created during the cooling, the pipe is passed through a heater to be heated in accordance with the distribution of the residual stresses. The heater comprises a ring-shaped casing having a pipe 41 and an insert hole 42, and an outer peripheral wall 410 made of an insulating material. The inner surface 411 of the insulating material 410 is heat- reflective. Infrared heaters 43 are arranged in circle within the casing 41. A larger number of heaters are arranged in the lower half portion of the casing than in the upper half portion.
