Abstract

PURPOSE: An aminoacid or peptide of which one terminal amino group or carboxyl groups is protected is condensed with glycine in the presence of a protease, thus producing a peptide bearing glycine on the terminal.
CONSTITUTION: An aminoacid or peptide, of which the amino group is protected in order to intorduce glycine on the carbon terminal or the carboxyl group is protected in order to introduce glycine on the nitrogen terminal, is condensed with glycine in an aqueous solution or water-containing solution in the presence of a protease as subtilisin or pepsin.
EFFECT: Since glycine can be introduced to the carbon terminal without the protection of the carboxyl group of glycine, or to the nitrogen terminal without the protection of the amino group, the times of mounting and demounting the protecting group can be reduced.
