Abstract
PURPOSE: To heat materials to a prescribed temperature with less energy than that of usual rotary hearth furnaces by executing high load combustion in a small volume combustion chamber using a mixed combustion burner of gas and heavy oil, etc., and recovering heat by preheating materials and primary air with exhaust gases.
CONSTITUTION: Air and atomized fuel blown out from said mixed combustion burner 1 are burned at high speeds and are supplied into a heating zone 13, combustion is nearly completed and combustion gases are produced. In this case, the cross- sectional area of a part passing from the heating zone 13 to a preheating zone 12 is reduced abruptly and refractories 11 are laminated to stagnate the combustion gases and unburnt gases along the heating zone 13 and after-burn them, and thus the atmospheric temperature of the heating zone is raised to 1300W1400°C. Adjusting a damper 9 at the top of a heat exchanger 10, these combustion gases are flown through the preheating zone 12 at high speeds. On the other hand, materials 15 loaded (14) into the furnace are reheated by the high speed hot air and then are rapidly heated to forging temperatures in the heating zone 13. Next, primary air is heated by the exhaust gases via the heat exchanger 10 and the air is used as primary air for combustion.
