Abstract

PURPOSE: To combust organic combustible substances contained in process exhaust gas, so as to solve the problem of air pollution and at the same time to utilize heat produced when combusting the organic combustible substances.
CONSTITUTION: Process exhaust gas A from oxidizing process 1, having a pressure, is at first introduced into heat exchanger 2, where exhaust gas A is heated by the heat of exhaust gas B discharged from gas expander 8. Then, it is introduced into catalytic combustor 4, where organic combustible substances contained in exhaust gas A is combusted by oxygen contained also in exhaust gas A, and thereafter it is introduced into mixing section 5a of a gas combusting and mixing means 5, where it is mixed with high-temperature combustion gas produced in gas combusting section 5b of means 5. After generating power in expander 8, the above mixture gas is introduced as exhaust gas B into heat exchanger 2, where its temperature is lowered by affording heat to exhaust gas A discharged from the oxidizing process 1, and finally discharged into the atmosphere.
