Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a shaft sealing apparatus for hydraulic machine, which comprises a guide pin fixedly inserted at one end thereof into a hole formed in a carbon retainer ring and fitted at the other end in freely slidable manner into a thru-hole formed in a carbon retainer ring supporting plate, whereby it is enabled to simplify the structure of shaft sealing apparatus.
CONSTITUTION: Sealing water supplied through pipe 47 is passed through connecting pipe 48, thru-hole 42, center hole 43 of guide pin 44 and hole 41 and fed into the space formed between a couple of carbon rings 18 and 19. Between carbon retainer ring 37 and carbon retainer ring supporting plate 39, there is provided a spring 25 for urging carbon rings 18, 19 onto slide plate 15. Further, a stopper 26 is fixed at the left of ring 37. Wich such an arrangement, if carbon rings 18, 19 are subjected to wear, ring 37 is slided toward slide plate 15 but it is prevented from turning by means of guide pin 44 inserted into thru-hole 42.
