Abstract
PURPOSE: To establish the small sized A/D converter, by connecting the cpacitor of capacitance 2C in series with a plurality of comparing voltage storage capacitors of capacitance C, applying reference voltage to the first stage, and producing the comparison voltage after the first stage.
CONSTITUTION: The capacitors C21 to C23 of capacitance 2C are connected un series with the comparison voltage storage capacitors C11 to C13 of capacitance C. The reference voltage VREF is fed to the first stage circuit of C11 and C21, and the stage after the first stage is connected to the storage capacitor of the prestage via the switches S1 and S2, and the final stage is connected with the capacitor C3 of capacitance C via the switches S3, then at the terminal of C11 to C13, 1/2i of the reference voltage (where: i=1∼3) is obtained. Next, the input voltage VIN is held at the capacitor C0 of the capacitance C and it is inputted to the comparator COM with the combination of the switch group I, G1 to G3, B1 to B3. Thus, the bit coefficient bi of each bit represented in VIN=Σbi/2i×VREF between the input voltage and the reference voltage is sequentially determined. Thus, two types of capacitors can be used and the A/D converter in small size and high speed can be obtained.
