Abstract

PURPOSE:A compounding composition capable of giving emulsion and suspension stability, improved touch and thickening effect to toiletries and non-official drugs when incorporated, comprising a complex of microcrystalline cellulose and an anionic high polymer, a thickening stabilizer, a surfactant, and water. CONSTITUTION:A complex of microcrystalline cellulose (M) and a water-soluble or swelling anionic high polymer (H), pveferably CMC-Na, a thickening stabilizer, and a nonionic surfactant are dispersed in water to form a compounding composition for toiletries and non-official drugs. The complex consists of 75-95 wt% of M and 5-25% of H. An anionic or nonionic cellulose, preferably HPC, is used as the stabilizer. Polyethylene oxides are preferred as the nonionic surfactant. The composition thus obtained is compounded with lotions or creams in an amount of 25-80 wt% to improve the physical properties.
