Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain inexpensive slide materials excellent in sliding characteristics such as wear resistance, etc. at high melting point, high hardness which are composed of inorganic fibrous moldings and light alloys in the given fibrous formation ratio and thickness using high pressure freezing and casting method.
CONSTITUTION: For example, a slipper surface 3 on a cam shaft 2 of cast iron, steel, etc. in contact with a rocker arm 1 for an internal combustion engine is allowed to be composed of a compound which fills any formed moldings of inorganic fiber like ceramic fiber of the diameter of 1W10μ and of the bulk density of 0.75W1.5g/cc with Al alloy by freezing and casting at a high pressure. At this time the fibrous volumetric ratio of the slipper surface 3 is 30W60 volumetric % and the layer thickness is 5W2.5mm and as the volumetric ratio increases thickness is let to decrease. When the volumetric ratio is under 30% the material is short of complexity with Al alloy and wear resistance decreases. When it is over 60% the slided material suffers some wear and damage. The layer thickness must be limited not to deteriorate thermoconductivity.
