Abstract
PURPOSE:To probe a flaw at a welded portion with reliableness by providing probe holder with oscillating function in an apparatus wherein a flaw is detected by making supersonic probe scan at a welded portion. CONSTITUTION:In the figure, buried within the rotating member 12, probe 11 is held rotatably at the tip of the holder 1, while at the center of the steering rod 13 (being provided at the rear center of the rotating member 12), an iron core 15 to be reciprocated by the solenoid 16 is connected by a pin, and at the other end of the steering rod 13, spring 14 is connected to energize the rod 13. In the probing operation, the holder 1 is driven, and the probe 11 being held by the holder 1, is moved with zig-zag loci as shown by the chain line in the figure, while at the same time, on-off electric current is applied on the solenoid 16 to make the probe 11 reciprocate with oscillation in the movement with the angle q maintaining the center O of the member 12 as pivot of the movement, thereby even the tilted flaw such as 52 in the weld bead is detected with reliability. The oscillation angle q is pref. around + or -10 deg., and the oscillation cycle is pref. around 10 times per second.
