Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide enhanced resistance to wear and errosion to the surface of cast iron products, mixture of one or more of Sn, Sb, or Cu powder is coated on the surface of mold to be contacted with cast products, thereby providing hard layer on the surface of cast iron or spheroidal graphite cast iron.
CONSTITUTION: One or more of powder of Sn, Sb, or Cu are preliminarily mixed and coated on the part or total surface of mold to be contacted with cast products. Molten cast iron or spheroidal graphite cast iron is poured in the coated mold. The surface hardening of this method is effective for areas subject to ash errosion due to smoke such as coal burn boiler or sand/ earth errosion.
