Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide an automatic paper feeding machine, which comprises a feed roller, a member for urging paper onto the roller and means for applying the urging force whose urging force is designed to be adjustable, whereby it is enabled to eliminate double feeding of paper sheets and other erroneous feeding of paper.
CONSTITUTION: Cassette 2 is fitted in the paper feeding machine in freely detachable manner, and pawl 4 for separating paper sheets 3 is supported on the cassette 2. Pusher 8 is supported on arm 11 by the intermediary of urging means such as spring 10 for urging bottom plate 12 upward and thereby urging paper sheets 3 placed on the bottom plate 12 onto feed roller 6. When a paper sheet is fed out frictionally by means of roller 6, top of the paper sheet is retained by separating pawl 4, so that it causes deflection as shown by the chain line in the drawing. Therefore, by appropriately selecting the rotational angle of shaft 15 connected to cam 14, tension of spring 10 can be selected at a required value and thus the force urging the paper sheet onto feed roller 6 can be adjusted suitably, so that double feeding of paper sheets and other erroneous feeding of paper sheets can be eliminated.
