Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide an aqueous emulsion having excellent stability against external mechanical force, storage, and hard water, and useful as a sizing agent, by emulsifying a rosin having esterified terminal carboxylic acid group and a hydrocarbon resin.
CONSTITUTION: An aqueous emulsion composed of (A) a rosin substance prepared by esterifying the terminal carboxylic acid groups of a mixture composed of (a) 0W95% of a raw material of rosin (e.g. gum rosin, tall oil rosin, wood rosin and/or their modified products) and (b) 100W5% of a reinforced rosin obtained by reacting a rosin raw material with an α,β-unsaturated carboxylic acid, (B) a hydrocarbon resin, (C) an emulsifier, and (D)water.
USE: Sizing agent of paper, water paint, water ink, adhesive, etc.
